Sideed wax u qortaa?

Mararka qaar naftu ma ku dirtaa oo wax qor ma ku tidhaa. Garashadaada ma carisaa oo muuqaal maskaxeedyo ma isku dubarridaa. Ma moodaa in rabitaan xoog badan oo waxsoosaar dhinaca maskaxda ah, naftu kugu dirqiyayso, haddana hiyigu ku hakinayo. Doonistaas xoogga lihi adiga oo uba hoggaansan, misana dhinac aad ka bilawdo ma garan waydaa.

Sideedaba horta sideed wax u qortaa? Sideed qoraal ku soo saartaa? Marka aad go’aansato inaad maskaxda tuujiso, ma inta aad qalin iyo warqad qaadato (ama intan danbe aalad adeegsato) uun baad wax dareerisaa? Ma fikrad ayaad horta dhistaa, ka dibna adhaxdaa oo qortaa? Ma tusmo ayaad horta samaysaa, ku horaysaa oo ku hagta? Mise horta waad fikirtaa, maskaxda maashaa oo qoraalka ku dhex diyaarisaa? Ma weedho uun baad iska dareerisaa, marka danbe isku toosisaa, mise kolba dhibicda kugu soo dhacda ayaad dhitaysaa? Cinwaanka maxaad ka yeeshaa. Marka hore miyaad raadisaa, mise gadaal ayaad ka heshaa?

Qoraal qaayo leh

In lagu kala duwan yahay u badi. Ruux ba inay si ugu badiso la soo weri. Tayda waxaan ku sheegi karaa isku dhaf. Nooca qoraalkuna waa sarjaraha ugu wayne la soco. Isku si u qorshayn maysid haddii aad qorayso qoraal cilmiyeed, maqaal ama sheeko-faneed. Mid waliba qaab gooni ah buu leeyahay. Ha yeeshee, qoraalada qaayaha lihi, wax badan ayay wadaagaan.

Mar baa jirta aan qalinka iska qaato uun oo maskaxdu maaxato oo laga yaabo inay murti dararto. Jeer kale oo waxa jirta aan qoraal hollado, balse aad maskaxda moodo inay mudaharaad ku jirto, oo waxba soo tuujin waydo. Maxsuulka xubnaha jidhka oo aan wada socon tani ku daa. Gacmo wadajir bay wax ku gooyaan sow ma ahayn murtidii Soomaaliyeed. Sidani, mararka qaar, xitaa hawlaha shaqadayda rasmiga ah la xidhiidha waan kala kulmaa. Mar baa jirta degdeg wax lagaaga rabo, laakiin haddana si uun aad uga maagayso. Markan oo kale, qof ahaan, haddii aanu jirin degdeg ama culays maangal ah, waxay iigu tamarisaa inaan iskaga kaco oo baylah kale ku tooso. Mar danbe oo aad moodo inay wax furfurmeen ayaan sii daayaa wixii aan hayey. Markani aan godlado, necbiyaa ciddii ama ruuxii maskaxdaa irmaanaatay, gaagixisa ee wax kale la soo doonata. Maxaan dhibsadaa ciddii dabuubtaa aan dareerin rabo, hakad galisa ama dhantaasha.

Marar baa jira aan dhib kala muto helida mawduucii aan wax ka qori lahaa. Mawduuc marka aad hesho, marinkii waad haysaa. Mar kale oo waxa dhici karta qoraal habqan ah aad iska dareeriso. Markan waa qabyo. Haddiise la isku dubarido, wax macno leh, waa ka soo bixi karaa. Midhkan ha yaraysan, waxaba dhacda, qormo ujeeddo la’aan iska bilaabantay, in marka danbe, dabcan hawl dabadeed, ta ugu wacan soo baxdo.

Fahan oo faaqid

Mawduuca aad wax ka qorayso, fahan oo dhuux. Akhriska badso, qoraayo kala duwanna waxsoosaarkooda maskaxeed dhugo. U fiirso habqoraalkooda; sida ay weedhaha u dhisayaan, xulashada erayga iyo dulucda hadalka. Qoraalkaaga, inta aanad baahin, kala huf oo kala haadi. Ku noqnoqo oo isha ka gur. Hubi oo tusmee. In cidi isha kaa daba mariso ceeb ha u arkin. Ishaadu wax ay ilduuftay in ta ruuxa kale qabato ayaa suurtagal ah. Sidaas ayaabay u badan tahay. Isku kalsoonow, kaligaana ha is wada mahadin. Labadan isku miisaan.

Aftahamo dhigan

Fududee oo ha adkayn. Erayo sahlan oo la wada fahmi karo adeegso. Xeerarka qoraalka ha u daymo la’aan. Hakad, joogsi, halkii xaraf wayn u baahan, xuruufta laballaabanta, intaba si gaar ah uga feejignow. Adeegso hadal-bilayaasha farshaxamada muujiya sida duurxulka, sarbeebta, qofaynta, halqabsiyada iyo humaagaynta. Isku day in qoraalkaagu hungurimar yeesho. Inuu noqdo kii Xasan Sh. Muumin AHUN sheegayey markuu erayga dhigan ee Soomaaliga ka hadlayey ee uu lahaa: Carrabku qaldi maayee, Sidii caanaha qudhqudhiya”. Waa halkii macallinkaygii jaamacaddee, Prof. Faarax Cabdillaahi Fariid, ‘Faarax Shuun’, AHUN haddii aad rabto in qoraalkaaga aan laga xiiso dhicin, quraanka aad u akhriso. Waxaad ka dheefi sida fikrad loo soo dhiso, loo soo bandhigo, misana si asluubaysan oo awood badan loogu raaciyo weedho xoojinaya doodda.

Asalka banaanna, dad bay u fududahay inay fikradaha ku gudbiyaan erayga dhigan. Hadda imika abwaan tix ahaan aragti ku soo gudbinaya ka hadli mayno. Waa ruux tiraab wax inoogu sheegaya. Dadkaasi waxay xirfad gaar ah ama hibo u leeyihiin helida ereyo wada dhiibsan oo habdhac iyo baadisooc gaar ah leh. Waa aftahano ku tamarisa gudbinta adduun-arag qoddobaysan, nidaamsan oo akhristaha qunyar uga daadega. Waa farsamo ruux kasta oo ku dadaalaa baran karo oo ka lib keeni karo.

Xilkasnimo ogow

Ogow qoraalku waa mas’uuliyad. Waa shaqo ay tahay in si xilkasnimo ah loo guto. Isagu waliba hadalka la iska yidhi, wuxuu dheer yahay, waa dhaxalgal oo wuu dhigmayaa. Waa halkii hoobalkii Cabdi Sinimoo’e, AHUN, “Wixii la qoraa, quruumo hadhee, muxuu hadal qiimo leeyahay.”

Amaanadaas waa in qalinku u guto si xilkasnimo ah. Ruux jeclaysi iyo eex kuma tamariyo. ‘Walee qaaf ujeeddo leh, qiimahayga kuma rido’, waakii ku maansooday macallinkaygii, abwaan Gaarriye AHUN.

Qalinka mas’uulka ah, waxa ka reebban, ruux ku weerar, ku difaac, ku aarsi  iyo ku danaysi gaar ah si aad si leexsan dux ugu hesho. Waa xil ay tahay in cidda kartidaas lihi ay qiimigeeda ku baraarugsanaato, ka dibna umadda ugu adeegto hubanti, hufnaan iyo asluub.

Russia-Ukraine war: Analysis and Insights

The war in Ukraine, now in its eighth month, shows no sign of de-escalation, but, conversely, its brutal phase is increasingly unfolding. Clearly, Putin’s ill-advised move of running over Ukraine within weeks; and installing a puppet government is not only shattered, but also a big political miscalculation, exposed.

Russian forces lately retreated or were forced to retreat to few pockets, often with a high Russian-speaking communities concentration. The dream of Kiev’s fall was dropped early on this onslaught, although intermittent air strikes continue. Instead, annexation of some territories following questionable referendum, which west describes as sham plebiscite, others see it as face saving technique, is the latest attempt to show might. The stiff resistance from the Ukrainian army, receiving billions of dollars, mostly in the form of military supplies mainly from America; and to a lesser extent from Europe, leaves this desire weary.

The morale of Russian troops is said to be at its lowest point since the disgraceful Soviet exit of Afghanistan in late 1980’s. Commanding generals were dismissed severally one after another, reservists called up and mass mobilization exercise is well underway. Massive exodus of young people to some of the neighboring countries is also reported. All these acts tellingly expose desperate moves by the regime.

Air missile defense system

As Russia intensified lately air raids on Ukraine’s cities including Kiev, the capital city, targeting landmarks such as energy infrastructures, western countries once again promised to stay beside Ukraine in this war. NATO ministries of defense agreed to provide air missile defense system to Ukraine to counter Russian air strikes. They also went a mile ahead since 14 countries of NATO members agreed better air defense system in their territories.

There is a fear that Russia, having the world’s largest nuclear stockpile, might unleash nuclear weapons. However, military analysts are of the opinion that nuclear war is unlikely, but, given successive setbacks, Russia might tempt to use tactical nuclear weapons.

Global recession

As a result of Russia-Ukraine conflict, many countries around the world, are experiencing, perhaps, for the first time in many years, huge spike in basic food prices and commodities. Equally, oil and gas prices surged, prompting energy crisis and effectively complicating lives to millions of people, primarily in the developing countries. This conflict also adversely impacted on global economic conditions as the world faces, sadly, the worst global food shortages for decades. Still worse, climate change-induced shocks, in the name of floods and drought pose detrimental effect to many developing nations in the world. Needless to mention economic crisis and supply chains disruptions perpetuated by COVID-19.

World Bank and IMF in their annual gathering this week in Washington warned of a global recession as countless countries around the world are seriously affected by inflation and high prices of fundamental amenities. A grim world economy assessment by IMF depicts stormy waters and projects downgraded global economic growth next year.

Countries with open and mature public discourse, inflation and rising prices activated demand-side of governance. Hence, in return, responsible governments are forced to change their economic policies. Governments are, for instance, increasing their spending by subsidizing households in the soaring energy bills, transportation and health insurance coverage.

Economic sanctions

The overrated economic sanctions on Russia, has so far little or no impact for Russia is still able to run a high-priced military operation in Ukraine. The barrage of American and European sanctions so far failed to bring Russian economy to its knees, as per earlier vows. Sanctions might setback Russia’s economic development in the long run but relying on his country’s vast gas and natural resources, Putin remains as deviant as ever. In terms of military operations, both Russia and the west are reported to have depleted their army arsenals.

Hypocrisy at its finest

While the war in Ukraine is unfortunate and claims the lives of so many innocent people, it exposed few other facts. Anti-war protests and solidarity with Ukraine were visibly seen every sector, anywhere in the west. It is crystal clear in business, sports and media, to mention a few. When, however, other oppressed societies face such atrocities, solidarity evaporates. In some cases, Muslim-related ones, for instance, such aid is even a prosecutable offense, let alone support and lending a meaningful help. Hypocrisy at its finest!

Resilient and united

Finally, many believed that Ukraine, although it is the most populous; and the second largest economy after Russia in the Soviet Union yet will not stand against the heat of Russian invasion. Ukraine -thanks, ostensibly to the generous support from its western allies- not only fought back but succeeded to recover portions of its taken territories from Russia. It also maintains a costly but deadly nationwide resistance. Its comedian-turned-president, through his nightly press briefings, is providing incredibly strong leadership. They say leadership is about effective communication and influence. To many, he is now a war hero. His people, the Ukrainians- around 43 million, remarkably remain united, resistant and deviant.

17/10/2022

Joy, small mishaps and treasure recovery.

After weeks in Mogadishu, Hargeisa and Borama, here am on board of my return flight. This was rather a unique trip, I might say, considering the feelings attached to it: lots of joy and some tears. Joy in the sense that it helped me reconnect with colleagues, counterparts, family members and friends, some of whom, I haven’t seen close to two decades, hence warranting joy and rejoicing. Tears, of course, refer to loss of a friend and lately, a colleague, while on mission.

Heightened Alert

The first leg of the trip took me to Mogadishu, where my arrival, coincidentally, happened at a time with heightened security alert. Intensified fighting with AS was reported in a number of regions, mainly in Hiiraan and Galgudud. Local militias, known as Macawisley, fed up with shock and awe; and getting moral and material support from the army waged war against strongholds of AS. Understandably, security situation is tightened in many of Mogadishu’s landmarks including the place of my stay. This unfortunately, limited my movement and interactions with some of my colleagues and friends, whose discussion I could hardly wait for. After an extended period of virtual engagement, face-to-face discussion meant a lot. Working together, while output delivery is flavored with collegial laughter is what I missed and longed for.

Magnificent Landmarks

However, I managed to visit the newest and probably, the most beautiful mosque in Mogadishu, if not in the entire region, to attend Friday sermon. Recently built by a businessman, the giant Ali Jimale Mosque with state-of-the-art outlook, designed, perhaps, with Ottoman Empire-like architectural design, will clearly attract many devoted worshippers and, if situation allows visitors alike. Praying there, whilst reminiscing so fondly the beauty and blessings of Prophet Mohamed’s (PBUH) mosque in Madina was refreshing, heart-enriching and so profound.

Airport mess up

On my way to Hargeisa, the airline I used was marred with unscrupulous behavior and acts from airline ground staff. First, the long queues and lines in the domestic terminal was chaotic. We had no option but to spend hours in security screening. After finally presenting my ticket to airline staff at the designated counter, the lady in the desk naively dismissed my ticket as mistaken and belonging to another airline. I had to protest, of course politely, and request her to look into it more carefully since the one she is referring to is already used. Still hard to understand, she sought clarification from her colleague sitting beside her, who looked not only senior to her but also more experienced. They come back with equally another blunder- that reference number is missing and therefore, I don’t have a valid ticket. Whatever explanation I provided in that tensed moment, within a chaotic atmosphere, fell on deaf ears. Seeking attentive ears to listen to my case, I escalated my issue with seemingly a senior ground staff member. Surprisingly, he repeated similar sentiments and when I kept explaining how my ticket is combined with different legs, he walked away, clearly in disagreement. Trying to get hold of him, I asked what other options he could think of. Buy a new ticket, he responded dismissively.

Considering that it is a weekend, offices are closed, and it is hard to reach travel agency, also mindful the upcoming burial, I had to buy a new ticket. Again, I didn’t carry sufficient money and ATM machines were far, but my colleague Mohiaidin, who is always so supportive and helpful, immediately wired the remaining balance electronically.

Upon arriving in Hargeisa, the following morning, I wrote to the ticket issuing authority, informing the mess up and urging them not to reimburse the airline on that leg, as I was forced to buy a new ticket. Interestingly, when issuing office reached out to the said airline, they reported a no-show case! I put this simplistic explanation to an end after sharing the new ticket, while they daringly issued two tickets for the same passenger, with two different costs.

Mind-blowing discussions

Putting this aside, I am delighted to have met with; and engaged in reassuring chats with old and new friends, admirers and acquaintances. Extremely happy to move around in Hargeisa, mostly in early evenings, as an invited guest; and taken to various food courts. Our discussion often centred around self-discipline, personal and career development, current state of affairs, humanitarian-development nexus, anchoring good governance on wealth creation, quality education, genuine learning, acquiring marketable and specific skills and continuing life-long learning appetite.

PCR Test still a requirement

On my way back, I struggled to understand the rationale behind having a negative PCR test at Hargeisa airport, while already leaving. It is ironic to see that PCR test is still a requirement for outgoing travelers; and strangely enough, not for incoming ones, who clearly could pose greater health risk. Worth to note that many of the travelers are vaccinated, some even triple-jabbed including the booster. So Am I. This doesn’t make sense and should stop immediately.

National Treasure

While there, I managed to collect my university-era belongings. Notebooks on various undergraduate courses along with other learning materials constitute reclaimed huge intellectual treasure. Everything there - handwritings, explanation of concepts and theories as well as essays -put me back to an old learning roller coaster. Going through these notebooks lately only reinforces how lots of info could easily fade away as old memories are replaced by new experiences. Revisiting such notes, I hope, will help me deep dive topics in the subject matter and beyond.

Conclusion

Anyway, sitting here at the airport, in a middle of a four-hour-long layover on my way back, thrilled to be associated with such brilliant and caring people in different locations in one way or another.

Finally, I would like to register my appreciation to all those who made my short stay there so lovely and memorable!

30 Janaayo 1984- Sheekada markhaati goobjoog ahaa

Subax degan oo waa samaad noo baryey ayay ahayd. Subax dhulka ceeryaan qarisay oo aragtidu aanay wacnayn. Maalmuhu kala tilmaamane, waa Isniin, oo ah ayaantii suubanaha nnkha uunka la keenay. Waa 30/01/1984. Fasalka shanaad ee dugsiga hoose dhexe ee Wiilasha Boorama- beryahaas Dheyga ayaa loo aqoon ogaaye- ayaan ku jiray. Al-Aqsa ayaa dugsigaas hadda loo yaqaan. 5X ayaan ahaa markaa, bilo ka hor ayaanan ka soo wareegay dugsiga hoose ee Aloog (Qasabka) oo aan 1aad ilaa 4aad ku soo qaatay.

Nusasaacihii markii aan ka soo noqonay, ayaan mar kaliya guux iyo sawaxan wada socda maqalnay. Mise muraayadihii daaqadaha ee fasalkii aan ku jirnay ayaaba soo daatay. Waa diyaarade ka yaaca ayaa xigtay. Allow kula baxso. Arday waliba halka uu is lahaa waad ku badbaadi kartaa ayuu u cararray. Carruurnimadii waxaan maqli jirnay, diyaaraduhu waxay rabaan inay qarxiyaan kaalmaha/kaydka shidaalka si magaalada oo dhammi u olosho. Aniga oo taa maanka ku haya ayaan is idhi dhinaca duurka u carar. Qiiqii, siigadii iyo uuradii qaraxyada ka dhashay ayaa dhulka oo dhan wada qariyey oo jihooyinkii ayaa iga qasmay. Ninkaygii is lahaa dhinaca barraxa u baxso, waxaan is arkay saacado badan ka dib, aniga oo horjiifa xanaanada dhexe ee hooyada iyo dhallaanka, isla markaana wax ka yar konton mitir u jirta dugsiga Sh. Cabdiraxmaan Qaadi oo ah halka dhibta ugu badani ka dhacday. Mar danbe oo qiiqii iyo uuradii kala yaraadeen oo aan kacay, dhaqaaqna is idhi, ayaan waa isla doonasho Allee, la kulmay hooyaday oo xaruntaas hooyada iyo dhallaanka ka soo baxaysa. Gacanta ayay i qabatay oo i soo kaxaysay. Mar alla markii aan gurigii soo gaadhnay, gaadhi ordaya ayaa yimid. Mee carruurtii, fuula gaadhigan. Hooyo iyadu show markiiba dhinaca dhakhtarka ayay u oroday markii loo sheegay in aabahay ku jiro dadka dhibtu soo gaadhay.

Markiiba waxaan arkay sariirta maydka lagu qaado oo banaanka taal. Dad dumar u badan oo guriga jooga. Wax baan isku wada gaysgaystay oo war dhiilo lihi inuu naga horreeyo waan iska maleeyey. Gurigii mar kaliya waa ka oohin is qabsaday markii aan soo galnay. Habaryartay, hooyaday la dhalatay, Xasna Caateeye Qayaad AHN  ayaa gacanta i qabatay, "Habo ha ooyin ee quraanka akhri" ayaan hadalkeedii ka sii xasuustaa. Kitaab quraan ah oo sideed jisle ah oo aabo Allah ha u naxariistee ii soo furay ayay ii dhiibtay. "Sow Yaasiinka ma aad gaadhin habo, Yaasiinka akhri" ayay iigu sii dartay. Habeenkii hurdo la sheego ma aanu seexan. Fikir iyo waayaha soo kordhay ayaa hurdada ii diiday. Cabsina meesha kama madhnayn.

Sogsogley

Subixii waxa noo yimid Allah ha u naxariistee adeer Maxamed Barkhad Miigane (Xamaal) oo gaadhigiisii sabaaxa ahaa wata. Diyaargarooba waa la idin kaxaynayaaye ayaa la yidhi. Aniga oo quraac la ii soo dhigay u fadhiya, ayaan isha ku dhuftay, dharkii aabahay AHN xidhnaa shalay ka hor intii aanu geeriyoon. Maryihii oo raadkii qaraxyadu ka sii muuqdaan ayaan arkay. Waxba way iga degi waayeen oo halkaas ayaan kaga kacay.

Waxa la na geeyey Sogsogley oo beerihii awoowo ay ku yaalaan, reero qoyska ka mid ahina ay degan yihiin. Seben barwaaqo ah oo beeruhu baxeen ayay ahayd. Xasiid la noogu dubay dacar inaan in badan cunnay waan xusuusnahay. Saddex habeen inaan halkaas joognay ayaan filayaa.

Xasuuq Dadweyne

Ku soo noqo xasuuqii dadweyne. Diyaaradaha Xabashidu dad ilaa 70 qof ku dhaw ayay dileen. Dadka ugu badan ee meesha ku dhammaaday, arday yaryar oo dugsi hoose dhigta ayay ahaayeen.  12 jirro ayaa ugu waynaa. Dad kale oo waayeel ahina waa ku jireen. Ardaydu  waxay u badnaayeen dugsiga hoose ee Elementeriga. Saaxiibbo badan oo aan si fiican u garanayo ayaa halkaa ku hoyday.

Sida uu mar danbe iiga sheekeeyey adeerkay Axmed Muxumed Xirsi (Baahsane) AHN, aabahay dhaawac ayaa bilawgii soo gaadhay. Safar ayuu ahaa subaxaas oo Jabuuti ayuu u socday. Istaanka baabuurta oo dugsigaas hortiisa ah ayuu joogay. Bawdada iyo luqunta ayay laba filidh ka galeen. Baahsane waxa uu ii sheegay in go’ii shaalka ahaa ee aabahay uu huwanaa uu ku xidhay bawdada si uu dhiiga u joojiyo. Ayaandarrose, markii isbitaalka la geeyeyba waa qudhbaxay.

Dadkii diyaaraddu ay laysay waxa lagu aasay xabaal wadareed waqooyiga magaaladda ku yaal. Ha yeeshee, aabahay AHN ehelkii markaa joogay waxay go’aansadeen inay gooni u aasaan. Xabaalihii hore ee seeraha Borama ayay ku aaseen. Waxaan qiyaasayaa inay xabaalwadareedka u diideen dareen la xidhiidha inaan meytida loo aasayn si waafaqsan milgihii ay mudnaayeen.

Dhaawac maskaxeed

Dad waa nabadeed u beryey oo aan dagaal ku jirin ayaa subaxaas la xasuuqay. Dad rayid ah, aan hubaysnayn, dugsi jooga oo waxbarasho ku foogan in diyaaraddo dagaal, iyaga oo nabad ku waabariistay  iska gumaadaan, wax si fudud loo ilaawi karo maaha. Waa taariikh mudan in jiilba jiil u gudbiyo oo quluubteena ay ku dhex noolaato. Dadka sida gardarada ah loo laayey, waalid iyo arday ba iyo daaraha burburay marka laga yimaad, waxa aan fududayn dhaawaca maskaxeed ee ardaydii aan ka midka ahaa ee ka badbaaday xasuuqaasi soo gaadhay. Waxaan xusuustaa, in sannadkaas intiisii danbe oo dhan, haddii foosto la riixo aan dugsiga ka soo cararri jirnay. Haddii shanqadh wayni dhacdo, aan judhaba xaafadda joognay. Ardayda waaweyn, gaar ahaan kuwa fasalka 8aad, farsamo ay carruurta kaga cabsiiyaan ayay soo saareen. Inta ay saddex farrood kor u taagaan, sidii wax ay cirka tilmaamayaan, ayay ku dhawaaqi jireen, “Wallaahi waa saddex’. Garro oo hadda saddexdooda farood ayay sheegayaan. Ardayda yaryar ee diyaaradduhu raadka xun ee maskaxiyanka ah u ku reebeen, saddex diyaaradood oo duulaan ah ayay u qaadan jireen. Markaaba waa yaaci jireen oo guryaha ayay gabbood ka deyi jireen.

Fasixii sannadkaas aniga oo Jabuuti jooga, ayaan habeen ku soo baraarugay, iyada oo la igu xoonsan yahay oo la i dejinayo. Show waan sasay oo diyaaradihii dagaalka ee Faransiiska ayaan guuxoodii maqlay, ka dibna, gidaar saddex xagal ah ayaan gabbaad ka deyey. Waxaan maqli jiray, in na loo sheegi jiray, haddii diyaarado ina soo weeraraan, in meel dhufays ah ama gidaar ah aan galno, aayatal kursina aan akhrino. Waa la ii qalbiqaboojiyey, oo inaan Jabuuti joogo la i xasuusiyey, dabadeedna hurdadii ayaan ku noqday. Waa tusaale yar oo muujinaya raadka dagaaladdu ka tagaan. Waa qayb ka mid ah xannuunada laga dabiibo dadka dhacdooyinka argagaxa leh u soo jooga.

Maxaa laga yidhi

Waxaan arkay laba maanso oo ay dhacdadaas u kala tiriyeen abwaan Axmed Faarax Cali ‘Idaajaa’, iyo Prof. Daahir Maxamuud Xaddi. Baroordiiqda iyo dareenwadaagga marka laga yimaad, labadaba waxa laga dheehan karaa xog ku sahansan wixii qulqulato beryahaas dunida ka taagnaa.  Abwaan Idaajaa isaga oo hogatusaalaynaya in ubadkaas iyo rayidkaas la gummaaday aanay sidaas geyin, waa kii lahaa:

Qalbi laawe ba'an iyo,

Bahal doorsan mooyee,

Nin yaqaani Boorama,

Bambo kuma garaaceen,

Mar kalena waa kii lahaa,

Bili weeyi samirkuye,

Adna Booramaay garo,

Abwaan Daahir Maxamuud Xaddi, isaga oo sharraxaad juqraafiyeed bixinaya, waa ka intan ku fara-yaraysanaya:

Billi iyo wanaagiyo,

Bashbash iyo barwaaqiyo,

Dhul badhaadhe jiifoo,

Lagu baahi beeliyo,

Barkhad kaydsan baan ahay.

Buqdhadii Dhammuugeed,

Balliyada agteediyo,

Biyaheeda Qoorgaab,

Beeraha Cammuudeed,

Durdurada ka buuxiyo,

Baki seeraheedii,

Buuraha ka soo rogan,

Bulxankeeda Saw iyo,

Baallaha agteeda,

Dhul ballaadhan weeyoo,

Barbarkii aad eegtaba,

Bidix iyo ilaa midig,

Waxa beero teedsane,

Beeshu nabad ku jiiftee,

Barqodharag ku joogtee,

Badarkiyo gallaydii,

Boholaha dhex jiifaa,

Boqolaal kun weeyoo,

Bal qabsoo tilmaambixin,

Kama bogan karaayee.

Abwaanku isaga oo sida muuqata ka mahadhelinaya tacsida iyo dareenqaybsiga, waa ka tixda ku soo gunaanadaya:

Baroordiiqdu maydkaba,

Ka badhkeed inay tahay,

Horaa loo bayaanshee,

Tacsi baaqa heelada,

Bihinbiha walaalnimo,

Wax kastoo baxnaanada,

Badhigooyadayda,

Ciddii baanta taydaa,

Igu booriyaysee,

Boorama haddaan ahay,

Mahad buuran,

Buuxda, iga hoo.

Allah ha u naxariisto dhammaan intii weerarkaas ku nafwayday oo dhan.

Labada nin ee u ordaya inay kursiga kala wareegaan Uhuru Kenyatta oo dhammaystay laba xili doorasho (10 sanno), waxay ku ololeeyeen barnaamijyo aan aad u kala fogayn. Raila waxa ugu weyn ee uu codbixiyeyaasha u balanqaaday waxa ka mid ah inuu ka dhiso gobol walba warshad waxsoosaarka xoojisa, lacag caddaan ah ($50) oo uu u qoro dad lagu qiyaasay laba milyan oo aad faqiir u ah, caymis caafimaad oo dadweynaha oo dhan ah, waxbarashada aasaasiga ah oo bilaash ah, waxsoosaarka oo uu ka dhigo udubdhexaadka dhaqaalaha iyo inuu dhiirigaliyo maalgalinta ganacisga haweenku ay hoggaamiyaan. Ruto dhankiisa, waxa ugu waaweyn dhaqaale-abuur hoos ka soo unkama, maalgalin xoog leh oo lagu sameeyo waxsoosaarka beeraha, dhiirigalinta noocyada kala duwan ee ganacsiga, gaar ahaan ka xoogsatada muruqmaalka ah, guriyeynta, adeeg caafimaad oo loo dhan yahay, tiknoolojiyada, adeegbixinta iyo la tacaalida isbeddelka cimilada.

Raila, markii shanaad ayuu u ordayaa kursiga madaxweyne, isbeddelka u weyn ee muuqdaana, waa madaxweyanaha xilka ka degaya, oo labadii doorasho ee u danbeeyey 2013 iyo 2017 ka guulaystay oo maanta si weyn u taageersan. Raila wuxuu isku dhegaa shakhsi isbeddeldoon soo jireen ah, muddo dheer soo hoggaamiyey mucaaridka, haddii la doortana, Kiiniya u horseedi doona barwaaqo iyo horumar. Ruto, si ka duwan ragga saaxadda siyaasadda horbooda, wuxuu isku sawiraa shakhsi nolosha meel hoose ka soo bilaabay, muruqmaal ahaa, kana warqaba nolosha inta badan ee dadka Kiiniya.

Raila waxa uu u soo xushay ku xigeen haweenayda lagu magacaabo Martha Karua oo wasiirka cadaaladda ka soo ahayd xukuumaddii Kibaki. Sida uu ku xusay buuggiisa “The flame of Freedom”, waxa uu Raila sheegayaa in markii lagu jiray wadahadaladii lagu soo dhisayay xukuumaddii wadaagga ahayd, ka dib doorashaddii dhiigga badani ku daatay ee 2007, ay haweenaydaasi ahayd qofka ugu mayalka adag ee ka socday dhinaca Kibaki. Waxa xusid mudan in Ruto oo isna ugu firfircoonaa, uguna mayal adkaa dhinaca Raila uu maanta yahay shakhsiga ugu weyn ee hoggaaminaya isbahaysiga loolanku ka dhexeeyo.

Ruto, isna waxa uu ku xigeen u soo xushay Rigathi Gachagua, 57 jir xubin baarlamaan ahaa. Ninkan ayaa lagu sheegay inuu aad ugu wacan yahay abaabulka iyo iskudubaridka. Labada tartame ee jagada ku xigeen, labaduba waxay ka soo jeedaan gobolka codadka qaniga ku ah ee Mount Kenya.

Marka laga yimaad barnaamijyada siyaasadeed ee ay soo bandhigeen ragga ugu cadcad hoggaamintu, waxa xaqiiq ah in bulshadu u abaabulan tahay qaab qabali ah, codbixintuna ay ku salaysan tahay dano reereed iyo matalaad deegaan. Madaxweynaha xilka ka sii degaya iyo deegaanka uu ka soo jeedo, inta badan iyaga ayaa saamayn wayn ku lahaan jiray go’aaminta maxsuulka doorasho, tirada dadkooda iyo dhaqanka isku duubnida, ha yeeshee doorashadan, qof deegaankaas ka soo jeedaa u ordi maayo kursiga u sarreeya, taasina waxay sii xoojinaysaa hubaal la’aanta ku gedaaman dhinaca miisaanku u ciiri karo.

Ragga kale ee u tartamaya kursiga madaxweyna waxa ka mid ah George Wajackoyah iyo David Waihiga. Labada midna looma arko tartame saamayn weyn leh.

Guddiga Doorashada

Culays badan ayaa saaran hay’adda u xilsaaran doorashooyinka Kiiniya. In kasta oo intooda badani ay yihiin xubnihii ka garnaqay doorashadii 2017, haddana waxa laga filayaa inay hirgaliyaan doorasho hufan oo ka madhan qaladaadkii sababay in maxkamadda sare natiijadii doorashada madaxweyne ee 2017 ka dhigto waxba kama jiraan. Taasi oo jirta, durba qaladaad iyo farsamoxumo ayaa soo baxaya. Tartanka badhasaab ee gobolada Mombasa iyo Kakamega ayaa la hakiyey xalay ka dib markii ay soo baxeen qaladaad dhinaca farsamada ah, gaar ahaan iswaydaar waraaqaha codaynta ah. Sidaas oo ay tahay, kalsooni ayaa lagu qabaa in guddigani ay doorkan awood u yeelan doonaan ka garnaqa doorashada si walba iskugu sidkan ee dalka ugu dhaqaalaha wayn Bariga Afrika!

Prof. Sulaiman retires from public service

Prof. Sulaiman Ahmed Gulaid, president of Amoud University retired today from active public service after five decades. He also steps down from university leadership after he delivered 25 years of solid performance with style. He was appointed as university president in 1997, when Amoud was an infant tertiary-level education, shortly after its set up. He then led Amoud towards institutionalization and turned the dream of its founders, supporters and well wishers into reality.

Unlike the modus operandi of today’s many learning centers, Sulaiman and his team created hope for thousands of otherwise despaired generations. The harsh circumstances, unforgiving environment and limited resources at their disposal only solidified their selfless resolve. Amoud University under the leadership of Sulaiman Ahmed Gulaid, as a result, saw growth in every aspect, and came out a leading and celebrated institution of higher learning.

Prof. Sulaiman, the former Dean of Faculty of Education of the Somali National University in Mogadishu, won almost immediately, the hearts and minds of the university stakeholders- students, teaching staff and partners- primarily through his leadership style, exceptional eloquence, ability to persuade and more importantly, self discipline.

Prof. Sulaiman and his team proved wrong to all naysayers, who unceremoniously argued university can only be run and sustained by entities with vast resources. In contrast, they exposed how committed individuals -no matter how resource-constrained-could make difference.

As Amoud University alumni and later a faculty member, I had the privilege to work alongside with Prof. Sulaiman. I witnessed the difficult and bumpy road he steered in a never faltering resolve. I gained first-hand experience of the way he tackled issues, often heads on and always putting the interest of faculty and students first.

He will forever be remembered as a talented, admirable teacher and a formidable leader!

September 11th, 20 years later

Today, exactly 20 years ago, Twin Towers - among other targeted government installations in the US - were either completely destroyed or seriously damaged, using hijacked planes, turned into flying bombs. Al Qaeda, the outlawed extremist organization; a terror group as designated by many, under the leadership of Usama Bin Laden, it’s Saudi-born founder, hosted by Taliban regime and hiding in Afghanistan was blamed on this deadly attack. The world since then drastically and irreversibly changed and hence the war on terror intensified in many fronts.

As a result, Taliban rule in Afghanistan was toppled and the country was literally destroyed in the process. Western-leaning new administration, headed by Hamid Karzai, was installed.

Still a student at Amoud University, I vividly remember this day as I learnt the breaking news from the BBC Somali Service, just minutes after I finished my classes at Al-Aqsa Primary School, where, as a part-time teacher, I taught English and Science. In the evening, all our eyes were glued to TV channels, chiefly Al Jazeera, BBC and CNN in Khadar Hassan Caateeye’s center in “Doqonka”, downtown Borama. TV sets were not available in private houses for satellite dishes were by then amenities and privileges available to a handful of well-off families. I remember that night, political analysts, likening reaction of the US as that of a wounded lion الأسد الجريح”. When retired home late at night, still eager to learn the implications of this attack, I recall listening to BBC Arabic daily program  “حصاد اليوم, all night examining intensity, scope and time of the would-be reaction from the states.

20 years fast forward, today, as 20th memorial anniversary of that attack is underway, it’s strikingly worth to note, that Taliban is back. Not only back but is effectively in control of Afghanistan. Allied forces spearheaded by the US left that country weeks ago so rapidly and so unexpectedly.

As the famous saying goes, “The illiterates of the 21st century are not those who can’t read or write but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

In today’s vastly changing geopolitical dispensation, to remain relevant, one should relearn that mass killings of thousands of unarmed and innocent civilians, anywhere in the world, will not do good in this world and hereafter. Equally, aggressive, and self-centered regimes should unlearn the norm of installing puppet administrations overseas, often forcefully and against the will of the local people. This has consistently and repeatedly failed everywhere anytime since immemorial. All should learn negotiation table is the way forward and what many finally returned to and accepted, sadly only after so many innocent lives were lost so needlessly and so unnecessarily!
