I met a great Awdalman !!!

I always liked to visit the holly land. This developed in me in my younger years and the more I read about the history of the blessed land, the more my interest to visit this godly land increased. Alhamdu lillah, Allah provided me the opportunity to make the visit to the land of “baraka”. During my stay, I visited the countless sites of the Islamic rich history in Madina and Mecca. I also met a lot of Somalis and especially Awdalians. Writing about the holly sites will require volumes but a proper way to sum up would just be to mention the fact that these many sites are of no match to the man made and highly publicized Niagra falls, Disneyland, Marineland and what ever else land. Only a blessed person gets the godly opportunity to visit the land of baraka and thanks to Allah I must confess that the opportunity is/was the best that ever happenened to me.

In this piece, I would write about a great Awdalman I met during my stay whose love to Awdal is limitless and who is known to every Awdalian. An Awdalian whose vision and moral courage changed the entire city of Borama and because of him my birth place - Borama is profoundly different, and better.I talked with a lot of people about this great entrepreneur and all those I spoke with spoke highly of his business skills and hailed his humility and his down to earth nature which has endeared him to many.

During my stay, I met the man I heard about before several times and right away I learned much of the true measure of this extraordinary Awdalian. Here was that rare individual who is completely comfortable with himself and with others. No ego, no self-congratulations, just what I came to know was the real Awdalite I heard about. Honor, genuine decency, an honest desire for the good of all Awdalians, a practical approach and sound analysis to every challenge Awdal faces, unbounded optimism and a bright hope for the nation of Samaroon were all on his face.
You can right away tell that his heart is with the average Awdal. He was steadfast and immovable in his principles and moral philosophy. He had an unwavering private faith in Allah, from which he drew strength and direction - Faacil alkheyr.
His character was a unique combination of big picture vision, individual thoughtfulness, good humor and personal warmth. I right away found out that he has the greatest love for Awdal and for Awdalians. No matter what walk of life, no matter what stature, he values every Awdalian and believes in their individual potential.

In my conversations with him, he was unusually considerate of everyone. He gave me a tour of his business compound; offices and warehouses and in my observations in the mean time I found him working in harmony with all the people. I found him very friendly with who ever he comes accross. In the real sense of the word he is a very nice, generous person and there’s a lot we can learn from him.

From those I spoke with about him; they told me that his story is a story of rags to riches. They all mentioned the fact that he achieved all the success through dedication and commitment. "Mr. Iddriss M. Sacad does not look for shortcuts and loopholes. He builds his business legitimately” they all agreed. And that is exactly what I found him to be.

I must salute Mr. Iddriss M. Sacad for the contribution he has made to Awdal, and the rest of the Awdalians must take a lesson from him. He helps/helped people without consideration of their cast, creed - truly remarkable characteristic, Mr. Iddriss is a very down to earth person who fits in beautifully with every person who comes accross.and is wise enough to see the opportunities Somaliland offers. His dedication and commitment to his work is a lesson that people in Somaliland in general and in Awdal in particular can all take from this great man's life. story.

He gives/gave employment to local people in both Borama and in Jedda. Unlike others, he dared to invest in his home land (Awdal). He changed the face of the capital of Awdal (my birth place) and made it a better and beautiful place. Mr. Iddriss is truly a true icon in Awdal entrepreneurshipIskusoo wada xoori, the man I met in Jedda has all the charactersitics of a great leader.
